Soooo where to start I guess from the beginning. In as small of a story as I can. I tend to tell to much!
ANDY & I...
It all happened on a bus ride home from school, good old UTA. Back two rows Andy and Dave on the back row Gina and I on the row in front of them. Never seen Andy (AKA VOOT) in my life but we all where talking and he asked if I'd like to use some of his chap stick. Back then & even now I wonder "WHAT THE HECK"... Who would ask a stranger if they would like to use your chap stick? Well my husband would, he may never use it again but he would give anything to anyone if he felt they needed or wanted it. But anyway I took it just because... I had just turned and told my friend Gina... "Gina... I am going to snag that guy dang he is fine!" Don't think I ever used the Chap Stick. I smelled it and handed it back. From that day on I wondered who the guy on the bus was. After Christmas break I went and found Dave Lubbers and asked who the guy on the bus was. Dave laughed and said who? VOOT? I said no please tell me that is not his name? Sure enough Dave told me his name was VOOT. I right then and there said no matter how good looking he is can I really like a guy with the name VOOT? Ok Dave so where does this VOOT go to school, west. NO he doesn't where does he go to school? Dave wanted to bet me that Voot was at West. NO way had I thought I would have seen him. So Dave walked me down the hall and up to the second floor. I said ummm Dave this is my locker, you told me you would show me Voot's locker. He said just wait until the bell rings and I'll show you. So the bell rings and here comes Voot, I thought ok prepare to follow him. BUT noooooo it can't be. The locker directly behind me, In fact if I would have used a ruler Andy's AKA Voot's locker was right behind me. I was ok so did he just start here at West. Dave said O no has been here since his freshman year. WOW and I never had seen this guy. I do have to say after we had been together a long time and Andy went and got his patriarchal blessing it said... We had asked to be together on this earth. So we had to meet and find each other THANK YOU UTA and adventure I'll always remember.
Shy,.. but I continued to want to get to know Andy. Dave finally told me Voot was just a dumb nickname. THANK heavens. Dave talked me into writing Andy letters. Don't know how he did it but after weeks of bugging me I did it. I continued to write Andy letters even though Dave told me... Andy can't go out with you MS your to young for him and he wanted me to tell you this. I was pretty mad about this but o well. Mike one of Andy's friends told him look Drew throw your pride away who cares if you’re robbing the cradle if you like her "GO FOR IT"! Thank You Mike! So Andy asked me to The Western Round-up. I was so Happy My Mom said yes for about 2 hours... until my sister and brother told her how unfair it was and that I really should wait until I was 16 like they did. DANG was I mad at them, I cried the whole weekend. How would I ever break the news to Andy? Took me a few days, but finally at school on a Tuesday or Wed I told him I couldn't date until I was 16. I took it pretty hard, but we now think that was a great plan. Andy and I started going out and have been together ever since. 29 years later. I still love him more and more each day. Many fun times, many hard time many of every kind of time you can think of. But some of the best have been with our 4 boys.
When Andy returned from his mission we continued to date. He did ask me to marry him the day he got back from his mission. After he was released from being a missionary we drove up to the mall to buy some clothes for him and have lunch. Andy kissed me in the parking lot and asked me to marry him. Of course I said NO... just kidding I said YES. But we never planned a date. We continued to date and even had a planned to date others to make sure we should be together. I think Andy really never dated anyone else. WE continued to date and then one day my parents told me they where going on a mission. That’s when Andy said, we need to figure out what we need to do.
Easter (The Edwards East Escapade) we went to Arizona with my family. A huge LeBus picked each of our families up at our houses and drove us to Arizona. I don't remember too much about the ride there it was fun loved being with family & Andy. The funny thing I really remember is my sister-in-law Shawna was pregnant and we kept stopping for her because she was so sick. Poor thing! Well while in Arizona this one night while we prepared to have a big dinner with the whole family. I drove to the store with my sister-in-law Denise. When we got home from shopping we pulled into the garage and started to empty the car and take all the groceries in the house. While helping Denise carry the groceries in I asked her if she wanted me to take the baby in the house. She looked at me with a real confused look and said WHAT? I said would you like me to take the baby in the house. Denise looked at me and said Mary Sue what baby? I said the little boy in the carrrr.... I looked again and realized we had gone to the store alone there was no baby with us. I remember Denise looking at me and saying Mary Sue I think you just got told and shown a huge message. Someone is telling you that it is time to start thinking about getting married someone is waiting to come down to this earth. Sure enough that little boy had to be Scott. Andy & I got married Aug 5 1988 my Parents left on there mission Aug 14 right after we got back from our honeymoon. We had decided no kids for about 5 years. Really not thinking about what I knew about the little boy in Arizona. But I did say I will not have a baby without my parents being here.
